it defines who you are…

We Gather in God’s Name

Introit: He is Lord
He is Lord, He is Lord,
He is risen from the dead and He is Lord.
Every knee shall bow, every tongue confess,
that Jesus Christ is Lord.

Call to Worship:  (from Psalm 139:7-12)
Where can we go from God’s spirit?
Where can we flee from God’s presence?
There is no place we can go where God cannot find us.
If we stray so far from God’s path we cannot find our way back,
Even there, God’s hand shall lead us and keep us safe.
Even if darkness covers us and we can see no light,
The night is as bright as day,
for God is the light of the world.

Come, let us worship our God,
Let us follow Jesus our Saviour,
who leads us into light. Amen.

Hymn:  Just As I Am (508)

Opening Prayer:
Creator of Beauty, Designer of Life,
we pray that we might seek Your intention for us:
to see the beauty in the world You have created,
to love our neighbour as ourselves,
and to seek You as our Creator, Redeemer and Sustainer
Guide us in ways that help us fulfill Your intention for us:
to have life and have it abundantly, to share in Your love,
to care for Your creation and to serve You.
May we find Your intention
in the world around us,  and in our hearts.
And may we live out Your intention
in the ways we care for and serve others.
In the name of Christ,
who fully lives out God’s intention
for us to love one another, we pray. Amen.

We Respond to God

Prayers of Joy and Concern and The Lord’s Prayer

* Doxology: (506, verse 1 and 5)
Take my life and let it be
consecrated, all for Thee;
take my moments and my days;
let them flow in ceaseless praise.

Take my love, my Lord, I pour
at Thy feet its treasure store.
Take myself and I will be
ever, only, all for Thee.

* Offertory Prayer:
God of all giving,
may the gifts we give this morning help strengthen
the church’s ministry of love and compassion.
And may our giving bear witness to our desire
to have the grace of Christ shine in our lives.  Amen

Hymn:  Forgive Our Sins As We Forgive (364)

* Commissioning Prayer:
As we go into the world,
seeking freedom and peace, may we
let go of judgement and embrace compassion,
let go of resentment and embrace forgiveness,
let go of hatred and embrace love,
let go of fear and embrace belief,
let go of our set ways and embrace God’s way,
let go of our defences and embrace one another.

* Sung Response:  Go Now in Peace
Go now in peace, go now in peace,
may the love of God surround you,
everywhere, everywhere, you may go.
